X-Code Install

Only install the Released version of Xcode, which as of the time of this writing is 12.5. Xcode 12.5 was released on April 26, 2021 and has been tested as compatible with building Loop.

Install Xcode from the App Store.

If Xcode 12.5 is not appearing for you in the App Store, it is possible you do not have the current OS installed. To install Xcode 12.5, you will need Big Sur. It doesn’t need to be the latest version of Big Sur, but it cannot be Catalina.

If you have the correct OS and you still are not being prompted to upgrade or install Xcode, it most likely means you previously had either a Beta version installed, or you installed a previous version from the Apple Developer web site. These instructions will help you get back to properly installing Xcode updates from the App Store: Fix-Xcode.

(Note, if you have less than 50 gig free, you should also use the Fix-Xcode link. Otherwise, if you see Xcode 12.5 in the Update list, continue with instructions on this page.)

5) Install Xdebug. If the command: $ pecl install xdebug Fails due to the phpize not returning the correct information, or it's trying to write to folders it cannot, or it cannot find php.h, etc, as it did for me and what started this post, try the following: First, you need to make sure that Xcode and the command line tools installed. Open the Mac App Store app. Search for “xcode” in the search field, at the top-left. Click on the Xcode app item that appears. Click on the Get or Install buttom at the top-right to download and install Xcode. There are a few things you should know, though. Xcode is a huge app, about 7 gigabyte (GB) in size. To install Xcode 12.5, you will need Big Sur. It doesn’t need to be the latest version of Big Sur, but it cannot be Catalina. If you have the correct OS and you still are not being prompted to upgrade or install Xcode, it most likely means you previously had either a Beta version installed, or you installed a previous version from the Apple. Edit 2: It seems to be downloading very slowly; perhaps Apple's download servers are overloaded from people updating to the latest iOS release. I've been trying to install Xcode 12.5 from the App Store, although each time, it stops downloading at exactly 388 MB. This persists when cancelling and restarting the download, and even across a reboot. I am working on a clean install of Catalina and Xcode 11. If you are trying an upgrade, or using a different version, your experience may be different. If you run into problems post a comment and I’ll do what I can to help out. And so, without further ado Install MacOS Catalina; Install XCode 11; Launch XCode. Agree to the license agreement.

Xcode Cannot Be Installed Catalina

1. It is going to take more than a few minutes to download the Xcode update, so you need to disable your screen saver. Go to Settings / Desktop & Screen Saver / Hot Corners (bottom right) and set your top right corner to “Disable Screen Saver”. Then you can point your mouse to the top right corner to keep your screen saver from disrupting your download.
2. Go to the App Store and download the most current version of Xcode.
3. Follow the “Command Line Tools” and “Add Apple ID” instructions in Loopdocs Step 9.
4. REBOOT (DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP).
5. Go forth and build, or update, OR write a new popular iPhone game that will make you millions of dollars!
