Pokemon Rom Hacks No

After nearly 8 years in the works, the team behind it is happy to present a full English translation of Super Robot Wars GC for the Nintendo GameCube.

Started in 2013 from a conversation on which robot to pick for the story, some users on 4chan’s /m/ imageboard banded together in order to hack and translate the game once the discussion began to lean in that direction. Originally opting to use a feature in Dolphin which allowed for images to be replaced as the basis for the patch, they later switched to a standard translation further down the line after collaboration with other fans in related projects. While activity slowed down for a while, the project came back in full force as of the end of 2018 and since then has been completed and polished, ready for play!

The characters, units, and setting of this game were later adapted for use in the “Original Generation” subseries in Super Robot Wars OG: The Moon Dwellers, and players can now experience the original story in which they appeared! Featuring a cast made up of robots from Earth and afar, this entry in the series departs from the norm in terms of both mechanics and presentation, but still offers the same mecha crossover experience that fans enjoy.

You can visit the project page for a download link, and the teams hopes that you’ll enjoy this translation!

GOALS: Have all 151 Pokémon obtainable in-game with well thought-out placements, enable Pikachu to learn SURF, change all direct references to real world places and animals to Pokémon-cannon alternatives, change two VERY minor places on the map for quality of life reasons, and to retain as much vanilla Yellow as possible: difficulty, dialogue, etc…

Pokemon Rom Hack No Trade Evolution

Generation III (R/S/E + FR/LG) is by far the most popular generation to hack due to the large tool pool and the ease of entry. The three main ROM bases for generation III are Fire Red, Ruby, and Emerald in order of popularity - LG and Sapphire are rarely used for hacks. The most notable distinction between the three is the resources available. Aug 15, 2019 Project → Load ROM.: Pokemon Adventure Red Chapter.gba; ROM Save type: Flash 1Mbit (Macronix, ID: 0x09C2) + RTC. If you do not choose the RTC option, the game's clock will not work. The Adventure Red Chapter box art was found in Google image search. The title screen cover art was obtained with a screenshot in a desktop GBA emulator. Pokemon Game Editor, commonly know as PGE, is an all in one tool started in 2010 by Gamer2020 for hacking the Game Boy Advanced Pokemon games. The program continues to evolve over the years and has had 60,000+ downloads. It has even inspired several copycat programs hence the slogan 'Accept no Imitations!'

SPOILER FREE DESCRIPTION:

WILD POKEMON: All wild Pokémon missing from Yellow were added into appropriate routes from Red and/or Blue. For any Pokémon that needed new places, plenty of consideration has been given to location and rarity using the original anime as a reference. No Pokémon have a 1% spawn rate - Some are pretty rare (4%/5%), but nothing insane.

TRADES: In-game trades have been redone, complete with new nicknames. The nicknames of the new trades were thought about very carefully so that they were very live-with-able. Attempts were made to use names of Pokémon that have appeared in the Pokémon Adventures manga or TV show, or have a nice ties which the original translator might have made.

MAP: One VERY minor change to eliminate one instance where players could soft-lock themselves, and a few VERY minor changes in one city to make movement easier.

TEXT: VERY minor changes to text eliminate real world locations and animals. In these instances, the project does its best to select appropriate Pokémon world counterparts which tie the games even closer together. Some general animal names have been left alone, otherwise it would have been a huge rewriting of Pokémon lore - Pokedex entries saying Ekans is a “snake” for instance, or the word “bird” - clearly, these should stay put, but “Salmon” was replaced in NPC dialogue, for example. In one instance, players will find an NPC who used to talk about being in a real world location, now speaks of being in JOHTO - and this character now actually makes a Gold & Silver bit of dialogue make even more sense. Other than future game references like this, the project attempts to make the changes so minor that even seasoned players may not even notice the changes. The slight edits aim to tie Yellow into the Pokémon world more, and to the real world less.

THANKS: The author really hopes that players try to do the play-through WITHOUT reading the “SPOILER DESCRIPTION” at the bottom of the Read Me file. All Pokémon will be found if players simply play through the game like normal, and talk to the NPC’s. None of them have new dialogue or anything saying where to find somebody, but battling them will enable players to find them via pokedex, and talking to others will reveal new trades. Checking the shops will also clue players in on what’s changed. Consider searching for “Pokémon Blue - 151″! It received the same treatment, but still different enough from Yellow 151.

Update 2.0: Changes were made to fix glitches which appeared in previous patches. Old save files will work with this patch, however this patch must be made to a fresh copy of Pokémon: Yellow Version, and the patched ROM should be named the exact same name as the old save file (extensions should not be changed).
